The Way it is

by Ed DuCarey

Although at first I felt unsure,
Please understand, I've been hurt before,
So on the fence I'd proudly sit,
Unknown to me how good the fit.

Then Suddenly like sunrise rising,
Believe me it was quite surprising,
It dawned on me how much I'd grown,
To Love you as my very own.

From then on I was born again,
Joys of spring, no more rain,
My heart grown full, I looked real close,
And found I loved you Oh so much.

Our passion burned like red hot coals,
both reaching down into our souls,
another plane we found ourselves,
both past and future now on the shelf.

Our Bodies writhed in perfect time,
Perfect pleasures all reasons rhymed,
We both found love like n'er before,
Pandora's Box, one opened door.

I had to tell you thrice each day,
How I loved thee in every way,
Then something happened at this time,
Your voice grew quiet, your actions primed

your thoughts and fears had grown to strong,
I wish you knew how you were wrong,
the dreams you dreamed grew quickly dark,
with panic set, you left me stark.

You ran from me not once but twice,
poor reasons given, to be precise,
Your Love for me I knew was strong,
but with another you sang your song.

And now I sit here all alone,
The ceiling spins from on my throne,
I have no clue quite where I am,
or where I'll go to, my heads in sand.

I dared to dream of us grown old,
New house to live, old flats all sold,
Twice now have my dreams been dashed,
My future dead, My taxi, crashed.

My dream is gone, my futures dead,
could point a gun straight to my head,
in Indecision you now seem caught,
but please choose soon as time is short.

I fear that time escapes from me,
just How much pain can I afford to see,
Don't take too long to sing your song,
Or we'll both get lost in the busy throng.

So make your choice, and make it soon,
whichever way you burst balloons,
be certain when you choose your way
your futures on the way you sway....
